A Voyage round Edward Ardizzone, Artist and illustrator
Allan Powers, architectural historian and historian of 20th century graphic arts, speaks on ‘A Voyage round Edward Ardizzone, artist and illustrator.’ The creator of Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain, a children’s book that was a runaway success on both sides of the Atlantic in 1936, the English artist Edward Ardizzone has only recently become the subject of a general study in depth. Alan Powers, author of a new monograph, will introduce the many aspects of Ardizzone’s work during a prolific career spanning 50 years, during which he was a war artist, teacher, printmaker and muralist as well as illustrating nearly 200 books.
